Wubetu Shimelash, a junior at Wake Forest University, has directed and produced a film called “The Power of Ethiopian Coffee” (see attached trailer video) with the support of the Richter’s Scholarship and Rethinking Community from Wake Forest University over the past two years. The purpose of this film is why coffee and a coffee ceremony is so important for Ethiopians from an economic, political, and cultural standpoint and the impact the coffee ceremony has on the social interactions of the community in Ethiopia.

The goal for the event is to have the Wake Forest community learn the value of personal interconnection and how to apply it to our community.  The film would show at the beginning of the event, and it would be followed by a performance displaying the Ethiopian Coffee ceremony, a discussion around ways we integrate this experience into Wake Forest’s community, and some time to enjoy Ethiopian coffee.

Join us for a showing of this film on campus on Thursday April 25th in Annenberg from 7:00 – 9:00 pm.
